As a way of communicating with employees and ensuring the same resources are available in every office, we created "Green Corners" in every office where information is available, drop-off boxes are available for the recycling of typically non-recyclable goods like batteries, food/toiletry packaging, and special event materials are collected (like used writing implements that are recycled through an organization in Dallas that donates proceeds to the public library system). The Green Corner is also used as a book and magazine lending library and has reusuable bags that employees can borrow during the day so that they needn't use a disposable bag when picking up lunch or running errands.

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve firm-wide sustainability practices, we hired an outside sustainable organizations consultant to give multiple presentations on employee engagement, recycling, and other topics. The webinars were broadcast firm-wide and were saved so they could be watched later by those who could not attend. One of Alston's main issues has been continued employee engagement with sustainable practices (for example, continuing to do a particular thing after a contest is over or after an initiative's initial roll-out). The lessons learned in the webinars had instant effect both on the way the firm's Sustainability Committee messages to the rest of the firm in general as well as the way it structures its particular initiatives.
